Good

Good is a drama set in Germany during the 1930s, as the Nazi party rises to power. John Halder is a literature professor whose home life is strained by a demanding wife, two children and a mother suffering from dementia. He writes a novel that touches on the idea of compassionate euthanasia, drawing on his mother's illness. The book attracts the attention of senior figures in the regime, who see it as useful propaganda, and Halder's standing and career advance quickly as a result. His comfortable rise eventually forces him to weigh the consequences for the people closest to him.

Viggo Mortensen plays Halder, with Jason Isaacs as his friend Maurice, Mark Strong as Bouhler, Steven Mackintosh as Freddie, Jodie Whittaker as Anne and Gemma Jones as Mother. Vicente Amorim directed from a screenplay by John Wrathall, and the film was produced by Kevin Loader, Billy Dietrich and Dan Lupovitz. It was a co-production involving Germany, the United Kingdom, Hungary and the United States.

Good runs 96 minutes. It was Amorim's first feature, followed by Rio, I Love You in 2014 and Yakuza Princess in 2021. On IMDb, critics rated it 4.9 out of 10 from 71 reviews, while on TMDB it holds 6 out of 10 from 172 votes, so audiences there were somewhat more favourable than reviewers.
