Short description

The story of Karen Silkwood, a metallurgy worker at a plutonium processing plant who was purposefully contaminated, psychologically tortured and possibly murdered to prevent her from exposing blatant worker safety violations at the plant.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Sher was specifically warned not to wear makeup. Before filming began, director Mike Nichols ran his finger across her cheek with a white glove to ensure she wasn't wearing any.
  • Actress Lily Tomlin auditioned for the role of Dolly.
