• Towards the end of the film, Bridget's friends discuss the fact that they have been close for 30 years – that’s exactly how long it has been since the first book about Bridget Jones was published.
• Hugh Grant decided not to star in the third film of the franchise – he didn't like the script and what happens to his character. He is involved in a plane crash at the very beginning of the film, however it is later revealed that he survived (in case the character is needed in potential sequels).
