Torrente 3: The Protector is a Spanish comedy crime film released in 2005. It follows José Luis Torrente, a disreputable and barely competent detective operating in Spain. When a popular politician arrives in the country intending to expose the illegal practices of a multinational corporation, the company's executives bribe the police officers assigned to her protection. Their plan is to have the politician guarded by the most useless detective they can find, and they settle on Torrente. He is also allowed to select and train his own team for the job, which does not improve matters.
Santiago Segura directs, writes and stars as the title character. The film is the fourth of the thirteen features he has directed in chronological order, following Torrente 2: Mission in Marbella and preceding Torrente 5: Operation Eurovegas. The cast includes José Mota as Josito, Javier Gutiérrez as Juan Francisco, Carlos Latre as Pepito, Tony Leblanc as Tío Mauricio and Abuela, and Eduardo García as the young Torrente, among 91 credited cast members.
Made for a budget of 8 million dollars, the film took 22 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.6 from around 6,800 votes, while on TMDB it has a rating of 5.4 from 199 votes.
