The Babysitters

Shirley Lyner is a high school student who babysits to save money for college. When Michael Beltran, one of the fathers she works for, kisses her and then pays her more than her usual rate out of guilt, Shirley sees a way to earn far more than babysitting ever could. She begins arranging dates between her teenage friends and unhappily married men, taking a cut of what the girls are paid. What starts as a small arrangement grows into something closer to a business, with clients, employees and rules of its own, and Shirley finds the situation slipping beyond her control as the girls involved start to test her authority and pursue their own interests.

The film is a drama written and directed by David Ross, who also wrote the screenplay, with John Leguizamo, Jennifer Dubin and Cora Olson producing. Katherine Waterston plays Shirley, and John Leguizamo plays Michael; Cynthia Nixon, Andy Comeau, Denis O'Hare and Lauren Birkell appear in supporting roles. It runs 88 minutes and was released in May 2008.
