Georgia Rule

Georgia Rule follows Rachel, a rebellious teenager whose behavior has pushed her mother, Lilly, to her limit. After Rachel takes the family car without permission and crashes it, Lilly leaves her with her estranged grandmother, Georgia, on a farm in Idaho for the summer. There, Georgia runs a strict household, and Rachel's arrival disrupts the small town around her. Over time, the conflict between the three women brings buried family secrets to the surface.

The film is directed by Garry Marshall, the fifteenth of the eighteen features he directed in chronological order, arriving between The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement and Valentine's Day. Mark Andrus wrote the screenplay, and James G. Robinson and David Robinson produced it for Universal Pictures and Morgan Creek. Jane Fonda plays Georgia, with Lindsay Lohan as Rachel and Felicity Huffman as Lilly; Dermot Mulroney, Cary Elwes and Garrett Hedlund also appear among the forty-one credited cast members.

Released in May 2007, the film runs 113 minutes and mixes comedy, drama and romance. Made for a reported 20 million dollars, it grossed around 25 million worldwide, a modest return. On IMDb it holds a 5.9 rating from roughly 29,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6 out of 10 from about 494 votes. A critics' rating of 4.1 out of 10 from 116 reviews places it well below the audience scores on both platforms.
