A Dennis the Menace Christmas

Six-year-old Dennis Mitchell is having trouble with a neighborhood bully and has decided to find the perfect Christmas present for his elderly neighbor, George Wilson, a man with little patience for the holiday season. Dennis's clumsy attempts to bring Wilson some festive cheer backfire badly, and Wilson's reaction leaves the boy crushed. A visiting angel then intervenes, taking Wilson through his own past, present and future so he can grasp what Christmas really means, while Dennis and the people around him learn something of the same lesson.

Ron Oliver directed this family comedy, the first entry in the chronological list of his feature credits. Kathleen Laccinole wrote the screenplay, Steven J. Wolfe produced, and the cast is led by Maxwell Perry Cotton as Dennis, Robert Wagner as Wilson and Louise Fletcher as Martha Wilson, with Isaac Durnford, Kim Schraner and George Newbern among the credited performers, twenty-two in all. The film runs 83 minutes and was made for a budget of roughly 2 million US dollars.

Released in 2007, the film rates 4.7 out of 10 on IMDb from about 2,400 votes and 5.5 out of 10 on TMDB from a much smaller base of 113 votes. The modest scores and low vote counts point to a title that found a limited audience and mixed reactions from those who did watch it.
