Vanishing Waves

Lukas is a scientist working on an experimental project that aims to transfer neural information from one person's mind to another. He volunteers to link his own brain to that of a comatose woman he knows nothing about, and during their contacts he begins to call her Aurora. As the connections continue, he hides what he has found from the rest of the research team, while the line between his own identity and the world he enters grows harder to hold.

Vanishing Waves was released in 2012. It is the first feature directed by Kristina Buožytė, who wrote the screenplay with Bruno Samper; her second film, Vesper, followed in 2022. The film was produced by Ieva Norvilienė and made in Belgium, Lithuania and France on a budget of about one million dollars. Marius Jampolskis plays Lukas and Jurga Jutaitė plays Aurora, with Rudolfas Jansonas, Vytautas Kaniušonis, Martina Jablonskytė and Darius Meškauskas in supporting roles.

Audience response has been modest: on IMDb it holds 5.9/10 from roughly 2,900 votes, and on TMDB 5.8/10 from a much smaller sample of 72. A critics' rating of 6.2/10 from 10 reviews places it slightly above both audience scores.
