Snitch

John Matthews runs a construction company, and his life is upended when his estranged teenage son Jason is arrested after a friend sends him a package of drugs. Facing a long mandatory sentence as a first-time offender, Jason has nothing useful to offer authorities. John makes a deal with a federal prosecutor: he will go undercover and deliver arrests large enough to win his son's release. With help from an employee who has a criminal record, John works his way into a drug trafficking organization, where a single mistake could be fatal.

Ric Roman Waugh directed and co-wrote the film with Justin Haythe, following his 2008 debut Felon and preceding Shot Caller, Angel Has Fallen, Greenland, Kandahar, and the 2026 releases Greenland 2: Migration and Shelter. Dwayne Johnson, who also produced, plays John, with Barry Pepper as a federal agent, Susan Sarandon as the prosecutor, Benjamin Bratt as a trafficker, Michael Kenneth Williams as Malik, and Melina Kanakaredes as Sylvie Collins. Made for about 35 million dollars, it took in roughly 43 million worldwide.

Audience response was moderate: on IMDb it holds 6.4 out of 10 from over 91,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.1 out of 10 from more than 2,500 votes. A critics' rating of 5.6 out of 10 from 151 reviews places it slightly below the audience scores. It was released on February 21, 2013, and runs 112 minutes.
