Hummingbird

Joey Jones, a former special forces soldier, is living rough on the streets of London after fleeing a court martial. When a beating and an encounter with criminals leave him with nowhere to turn, he breaks into an empty luxury flat in Covent Garden and takes on the identity of the man who lives there. The new name allows him to start over, and he finds work with a Chinese criminal organisation, first at a restaurant and then as a driver and enforcer. A nun, Christina, becomes a rare source of support. When Joey learns that his former girlfriend Isabel has been murdered, he uses his position inside the underworld to hunt for whoever is responsible, working his way toward the top of the syndicate. The film was released in 2013 and runs 100 minutes.

Steven Knight wrote and directed, with Paul Webster and Guy Heeley producing for Lionsgate, Shoebox Films and IM Global. It was Knight's first feature as director; he went on to make Locke and Serenity. Jason Statham plays Joey, with Agata Buzek as Christina, Vicky McClure as Dawn, Benedict Wong as Mr Choy, Ger Ryan as Mother Superior and Youssef Kerkour as Bouzanis. The production cost about 20 million USD and took roughly 8 million USD worldwide. On IMDb it holds 8.7/10 from 11 votes, while on TMDB it has 6.2/10 from 1,929 votes. A critics' rating of 5.3/10 from 51 reviews places it below the larger audience sample.
