Short description

Based on the play by William Shakespeare, this production explores a tragic story centered on love, murder, and the restorative power of nature. The film captures a live performance staged at the Donmar Warehouse in London, focusing on the descent of the title character and his wife.

The project was directed by Max Webster and Tim Van Someren. For Webster, this is the first of two films listed in his chronology, followed by National Theatre Live: The Importance of Being Earnest. For Van Someren, it follows Hans Zimmer: Live in Prague and Girl From the North Country. The film features David Tennant as Macbeth and Cush Jumbo as Lady Macbeth, supported by a cast that includes Cal MacAninch as Banquo, Noof Ousellam as Macduff, Rona Morison as Lady Macduff, and Ros Watt as Malcolm.

Produced by Tim Sheader and Emily Cecil-Dennett through Trafalgar Releasing and The Donmar Warehouse, this United Kingdom production combines elements of drama, thriller, and war. The final runtime is 115 minutes.
