On New Year's Eve, four strangers independently head to the roof of a London high-rise known for suicides, each intending to jump. Their awkward encounter stops any of them from going through with it, and after spending the night talking, they make a pact: they will postpone their plans for six weeks. The quartet includes a former television presenter, a young woman, a single mother and an American musician, and over those weeks they keep an eye on one another while drawing attention from the media as a group.
Pascal Chaumeil directed the film, his third feature after Heartbreaker and A Perfect Plan. Jack Thorne wrote the screenplay, and Amanda Posey and Finola Dwyer produced. Pierce Brosnan, Aaron Paul, Imogen Poots and Toni Collette play the four central characters, with Sam Neill and Rosamund Pike among the supporting cast across a credited ensemble of twenty.
Released in March 2014, the British-German production took in roughly 7 million dollars worldwide. On TMDB it holds a 6.2 rating from about 950 votes, while a film critics' rating of 4.2 from 52 reviews indicates a much cooler response from reviewers than from general viewers. The 96-minute comedy-drama was made by BBC Film, HanWay Films, DCM Pictures and Wildgaze Films.
