Criminal

Criminal is a 2004 American crime film about two con artists who team up for a high-stakes scheme. Richard Gaddis, a seasoned grifter, takes on Rodrigo, a younger and less experienced hustler with a natural talent for keeping a straight face. Rodrigo needs money to help his family, and Richard needs a partner for a plan to sell a forged note to a collector of rare currency. The partnership is uneasy from the start, and complications arise when Rodrigo becomes involved with Richard's sister, Valerie, adding a personal dimension to a job built on deception.

The film is directed by Gregory Jacobs and is the first of the three features he has directed, followed by Wind Chill and Magic Mike XXL. Jacobs wrote the screenplay with Fabián Bielinsky and Steven Soderbergh; it is a US version of Bielinsky's Argentine film Nine Queens. Soderbergh and George Clooney are among the producers. The cast includes John C. Reilly and Diego Luna in the lead roles, with Maggie Gyllenhaal, Peter Mullan, Zitto Kazann and Jonathan Tucker.

Released on September 10, 2004, the film runs 87 minutes. Its worldwide box office total of about 1 million dollars was modest. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.4 from around 11,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.2 from roughly 160 votes. A critics' rating of 6.4 from 119 reviews places it in line with the audience scores.
