A college student accepts a ride home for the Christmas holidays from a classmate she barely knows, and the two take what he calls a shortcut onto a remote rural road. Their car goes off the road in the snow, leaving them stranded, and through the night they find themselves threatened by figures connected to deaths that occurred there. Gregory Jacobs directed the film, working from a screenplay by Steven Katz and Joe Gangemi. It was his second feature as director, following Criminal in 2004 and preceding Magic Mike XXL in 2015.
Emily Blunt and Ashton Holmes play the two students, with Martin Donovan, Ned Bellamy, Ian A. Wallace and Donny Lucas in supporting roles. The film was a co-production between the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States, made for a budget of 6 million dollars and running 91 minutes.
On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.8 from around 27,000 votes, and on TMDB it also sits at 5.8, from 573 votes. A film critics' rating of 5.1 from 25 reviews places it slightly below those audience scores.
