Berserk: The Golden Age Arc III - The Advent

This third entry in the Golden Age Arc trilogy follows the Band of the Hawk a year after Guts walked away from the mercenary group. Griffith has been locked away by the Kingdom of Midland on a charge of treason, and his followers, now led in part by Casca, are hunted as they try to survive and plan a rescue. Their camp is set upon at night by Bakiraka assassins under Silat's command, and the fighters are on the verge of being overwhelmed when Guts reappears. Reunited with Casca, he joins the effort to reach Griffith, who is held in the Tower of Rebirth, the oldest structure in Wyndham Castle. What the rescuers find is a man broken by torture, and their flight from Midland carries them toward an event far older and more terrible than the kingdom pursuing them.

Toshiyuki Kubooka directed, with Ichirou Ookouchi writing the screenplay. The film is the third of Kubooka's Berserk features and followed the two Golden Age Arc films released in 2012, which came after his work on Batman: Gotham Knight in 2008. Hiroaki Iwanaga voices Guts, Toa Yukinari voices Casca and Takahiro Sakurai voices Griffith, with Takahiro Fujiwara, Minako Kotobuki and Rikiya Koyama among a credited cast of thirty. The film runs 110 minutes. On IMDb it holds a 7.9 rating from roughly 13,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 7.7 from over 400 votes, indicating a favorable and fairly consistent response across a large and a much smaller sample of viewers.
