Short description

Five young people are driving through the desert on their way to a party when their vehicle breaks down, forcing them to stop at a remote roadside motel and diner that appears to have been abandoned in a hurry. Radios and phones no longer work, a foul smell hangs in the air, and a strange man who has lost his wife joins them. Before long the group is plagued by visions of travellers who have been violently killed, and it becomes clear that something is hunting them through the night. They must work out what is happening to them if they are to survive until morning.

This horror-mystery was directed by Dave Payne, who also wrote the screenplay and produced it with Tina Illman and Amanda Klein. It was his second feature as director, following Addams Family Reunion in 1998. Devon Gummersall, Derek Richardson, Tina Illman, Scott Whyte, Arielle Kebbel and Eric Mabius lead the cast, and the production credits list 85 crew members.

Reeker runs 91 minutes and was released in March 2005. It took about 2 million dollars at the worldwide box office. On TMDB it holds a rating of 5.7 out of 10 from 285 votes, which places it among the modestly received independent horror titles of its period.
