David Wozniak, a Brooklyn delivery truck driver whose life is going badly, learns that donations he made to a fertility clinic as a student led to 533 children. He had no idea any of this had happened. When 142 of them bring a lawsuit to force the clinic to reveal his identity, he has to decide whether to come forward. Meanwhile, he is in debt, his girlfriend Emma is unsure whether he is ready to be a father, and his own father is threatening his job.
Delivery Man is a comedy directed by Ken Scott, who also wrote the screenplay, with André Rouleau producing. It is Scott's second feature, following Starbuck in 2011, and it reworks the same premise in an English-language version. Vince Vaughn plays David, with Cobie Smulders as Emma and Chris Pratt as his friend Brett. Britt Robertson, Jack Reynor and Bobby Moynihan appear in supporting roles. The film was shot as a Canadian, American and Indian co-production and cost about 26 million USD, earning roughly 51 million USD worldwide during its theatrical run.
Audiences have been moderately positive about the film: it holds a rating of 6.3 out of 10 on IMDb from around 86,000 votes, and the same score on TMDB from a much smaller pool of about 1,600 votes. Critics were less enthusiastic, giving it 5 out of 10 across 143 reviews, so the audience scores sit slightly above the critical average.
