The Best Man Holiday

Malcolm D. Lee wrote and directed this 2013 comedy, a sequel to his 1999 film The Best Man. It follows a group of college friends who come together again after fifteen years, this time for a Christmas holiday gathering hosted by Lance and his wife Mia. Much has changed since they last met. Lance is nearing the end of a professional football career, Jordan has become a television producer, Shelby has found fame on a reality show, and Quentin remains a wealthy public relations consultant. Harper, meanwhile, is struggling to finish a second book and facing the demands of new parenthood with his wife Robyn. Old tensions resurface as the reunited friends deal with the strains in their marriages and friendships.

Terrence Howard, Harold Perrineau, Morris Chestnut, Sanaa Lathan, Taye Diggs and Regina Hall lead the cast. Lee also produced with Sean Daniel. The film sits between Scary Movie 5 and Barbershop: The Next Cut in a run of films Lee has directed that began with Undercover Brother in 2002.

Made for 17 million dollars, the film earned about 72 million dollars worldwide, a strong return on its budget. On IMDb it holds 6.6 from roughly 18,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.5 from about 288 votes. A critics' rating of 6.1 from 95 reviews places it close to the audience scores.
