Mini is a rebellious eighteen-year-old who wants out from under her alcoholic mother, Diane. She begins working as an escort, and when her wealthy stepfather Martin turns up among the clients, she seduces him and talks him into a plan to have Diane declared mentally unfit. The scheme escalates into murder, and as a young detective, John Garson, looks into the case, Mini and Martin begin turning on each other.
Nick Güthe wrote and directed the film, his feature debut. Alec Baldwin plays Martin and Nikki Reed plays Mini, with Carrie-Anne Moss as Diane, Luke Wilson as Detective Garson and Jeff Goldblum as Mike Rudell among a credited cast of 28. Kevin Spacey and Dana Brunetti are credited as producers through Trigger Street Productions, alongside Bold Films, on a budget of about 6 million dollars.
The film was released in July 2006 and runs 91 minutes. It blends comedy, crime and drama. Reception has been modest: on IMDb it holds 5.8 out of 10 from around 9,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 5.5 out of 10 from roughly 137 votes, suggesting a small but reasonably steady body of viewer interest. A critics' rating of 5.6 out of 10 from 26 reviews places it close to the audience scores, so professional and viewer assessments broadly agree on the film.
