Extreme Movie is a sketch comedy built around the awkward side of teenage sex, following several high schoolers through their first encounters and the humiliations that come with them. Mike keeps looking for love in all the wrong places, while Chuck, having lost his virginity to his girlfriend, finds she wants to take things in unexpected directions. Barry is preoccupied with building the ideal woman on his computer, Fred arranges an online meeting that goes badly wrong when he turns up at the wrong apartment, and Mateus deals with the aftermath of a wild party. Threaded through the sketches are television presenters discussing teenage sexuality.
The film was directed by Adam Jay Epstein and Andrew Jacobson, with a screenplay by Will Forte, Akiva Schaffer and Andy Samberg. It was made by Dimension Films and FlipZide on a budget of about one million dollars. The large ensemble includes Michael Cera, Jamie Kennedy, Matthew Lillard, Frankie Muniz, Ryan Pinkston and Patrick J. Adams, among 74 credited cast members on the production side of a project with 226 credited crew.
Released in December 2008, the film runs 86 minutes and received low audience scores, sitting at 3.7 out of 10 on IMDb from roughly 12,000 votes and 4.3 out of 10 on TMDB from around 211 votes, which points to a limited reception rather than a widely embraced comedy.
