Paparazzi

Paparazzi follows Bo Laramie, a Midwestern man who becomes one of Hollywood's most sought-after actors almost overnight. His wife Abby and young son share the spotlight he never asked for, and four tabloid photographers, led by the aggressive Rex Harper, make a business of hounding the family everywhere they go. When a confrontation between Bo and the photographers leaves Abby injured and the boy badly hurt, Bo stops trusting the police to handle it and sets out to settle the score himself.

Paul Abascal directed the film, working from a screenplay by Forry Smith. It was produced by Bruce Davey, Mel Gibson and Stephen McEveety, and the cast is led by Cole Hauser as Bo, with Robin Tunney as Abby, Tom Sizemore as Rex Harper, Dennis Farina as Detective Burton, Daniel Baldwin and Tom Hollander in supporting roles. It was Abascal's first feature as director, and roughly forty credited performers and a similar number of crew members worked on it.

The film opened in September 2004. Made for about twenty million dollars, it returned somewhat less than that worldwide. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.7 from around sixteen thousand votes, while on TMDB its average is 5.3 from a much smaller number of votes. A critics' score of 3.7 from eighty-three reviews places it below even those audience figures.
