Dorothy Mills

Dorothy Mills is set in a secluded island community off the coast of Ireland, where a young girl is accused of attacking an infant she was meant to be looking after. A psychiatrist, Jane Van Dopp, is sent to assess the fifteen-year-old, Dorothy, but finds the local people cold and suspicious of her presence. As she looks into the girl's condition, she begins to suspect that Dorothy's behaviour points to a dissociative disorder, though the strange events unsettling the village suggest the explanation may not be so simple.

The film was directed by Agnès Merlet, who wrote the screenplay with Juliette Sales. It is a co-production between Ireland and France. Carice van Houten plays Jane, with Jenn Murray as Dorothy; the supporting cast includes David Wilmot, Ger Ryan, David Ganly and Gary Lewis, among 26 credited performers. The running time is 102 minutes, and the story blends drama, horror, mystery and thriller elements.
