Wrong Cops is set in a version of Los Angeles where the police have eliminated crime, leaving the officers with nothing to do. Bored and unrestrained, they spend their time on petty schemes, abuses of power and personal vendettas rather than on actual police work. One of them, Officer Duke, accidentally shoots a neighbor and then tries to get rid of the body with help from his colleagues, only for the situation to become more complicated than expected. Around him, the other members of the unit deal with their own troubles, including blackmail and compromising secrets. The film is a comedy with crime elements, written and directed by Quentin Dupieux.
It is the fourth of the sixteen films Dupieux has directed, following Wrong and preceding Reality. Mark Burnham plays Officer Duke, with Steve Little, Eric Judor, Arden Myrin and Eric Wareheim among the officers, and Marilyn Manson appearing as David Dolores Frank. The credited cast runs to forty-four names. Production was split across companies based in Russia, Belgium, Portugal, the United States and France. The film runs 83 minutes.
On TMDB it holds a rating of 6.1 out of 10 from 346 votes, which places it among the more modestly received entries in the director's filmography.
