Ass Backwards

Kate and Chloe are childhood friends who met years ago at a beauty pageant in their small hometown, where both finished at the bottom. Now living in New York, they are invited back for the pageant's anniversary and decide to make the trip, hoping to finally prove themselves, especially to Laurel, their old rival. Their journey across the country brings a series of detours and awkward situations, and it tests how solid their friendship really is.

Ass Backwards is a 2013 American comedy directed by Chris Nelson, the first of the four features he has directed, followed by Date and Switch, The Perfect Date and Reunion. June Diane Raphael and Casey Wilson, who play Kate and Chloe, also wrote the screenplay. Vincent D'Onofrio, Alicia Silverstone, Jon Cryer and Brian Geraghty appear in supporting roles, among a credited cast of twenty. The film was produced by Molly Conners and Heather Rae for Gravitas Ventures and Worldview Entertainment, on a budget of about three million dollars.

Audiences have been unenthusiastic: on IMDb the film holds a rating of 4.3 out of 10 from roughly 2,600 votes, and on TMDB a rating of 4.4 from a much smaller number of votes. A critics' rating of 4.3 out of 10, based on 22 reviews, sits at the same level as the audience scores.
