Daddy's Little Girls

Monty James works as a mechanic and raises his three young daughters on modest means. When a court grants custody of the girls to his ex-wife Jennifer, whose life involves drugs, Monty sets out to get them back. He turns for help to Julia Rossmore, an attorney with an Ivy League background whom he met while working as a driver. The two have little in common socially or financially, yet a romance develops between them, complicated by the custody fight and by Julia's father's expectations for her future. The film belongs to the comedy, drama and romance genres and runs 100 minutes.

Tyler Perry directed and wrote the screenplay, making it the second of the 29 films he has directed in chronological order, following Madea's Family Reunion and preceding Why Did I Get Married? Reuben Cannon and Perry produced it for Lionsgate, Tyler Perry Studios and Reuben Cannon Productions. Idris Elba plays Monty and Gabrielle Union plays Julia, with Louis Gossett Jr., Tasha Smith, Tracee Ellis Ross and Malinda Williams among the credited cast of 21.
