17 Again

Mike O'Donnell is a man in his thirties who feels his life has stalled. He gave up a promising basketball career in high school when his girlfriend became pregnant, and roughly two decades later his marriage is falling apart, his job is going nowhere, and his teenage children see him as a failure. After a strange encounter on a stormy night, he wakes up to find himself seventeen years old again. He enrolls at his old high school, where he becomes a star of the basketball team and a classmate of his own son and daughter, using the chance to repair his relationship with them while reconsidering the choices he once regretted.

The film is a comedy directed by Burr Steers, his second feature after Igby Goes Down, and it was written by Jason Filardi. Zac Efron plays the younger Mike, with Matthew Perry as the adult version, and Leslie Mann, Thomas Lennon, Michelle Trachtenberg and Sterling Knight in supporting roles.

Made for about 20 million dollars, it earned roughly 136 million worldwide. It holds a 6.4 rating on IMDb from around 231,000 votes and a 6.3 on TMDB from about 5,500 votes, while the critics' rating stands lower at 5.6 from 148 reviews.
