Obsessed

Obsessed follows Derek Charles, a successful financial manager who has just earned a major promotion and shares a happy marriage with his wife, Sharon, and their young son. When Lisa Sheridan joins his office as a temporary worker, her friendly manner turns into persistent attention that Derek firmly rejects. Lisa refuses to accept his refusal, and her behaviour escalates into stalking that threatens Derek's career, his marriage and everything he has built.

The film was directed by Steve Shill, whose only previous feature credit was Knight Rider in 2008, and written by David Loughery. Idris Elba plays Derek, with Beyoncé as Sharon, Ali Larter as Lisa, Jerry O'Connell as Ben, Christine Lahti as Detective Monica Reese and Bruce McGill as Joe Gage. Produced by Screen Gems, Parkwood Entertainment and Rainforest Entertainment on a budget of about 20 million dollars, it earned roughly 74 million dollars worldwide, a strong return relative to its cost.

Audience response was modest: on IMDb it holds 5.1 out of 10 from around 36,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.8 out of 10 from a much smaller group of voters. A critics' rating of 4.1 out of 10 from 90 reviews places professional opinion below even the IMDb audience score, while the TMDB figure is the highest of the three.
