Veronica Mars

Veronica Mars has built a new life in New York as a lawyer, having left behind both her California hometown of Neptune and the amateur detective work she did there as a teenager. That life is interrupted when Logan Echolls, her former boyfriend, is accused of murdering his girlfriend, a young actress. Veronica returns to Neptune to help him, launching her own investigation while a ten-year high school reunion brings her back together with old friends and enemies. The case forces her to weigh the future she has worked for against the town and the people she once fled.

Rob Thomas directed and co-wrote the film with Diane Ruggiero-Wright, continuing the story of the television series he created. Kristen Bell leads the cast as Veronica, with Jason Dohring as Logan, Enrico Colantoni as her father Keith, and Percy Daggs III and Tina Majorino among the returning regulars. The production was independently funded, and its budget of 6 million USD reflects that scale.

Veronica Mars was released in March 2014 and grossed about 4 million USD worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.7/10 from around 57,000 votes, closely matching its 6.7/10 critics' rating, while on TMDB it sits at 6.6/10 from roughly 1,200 votes. Audience and critical responses therefore align closely.
