Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa

Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa is a British comedy centred on Alan Partridge, a self-important radio presenter in Norwich who regards himself as the biggest celebrity he knows. His small station is bought by a large media conglomerate, putting the jobs of its staff in doubt. When a colleague is dismissed and returns to the building with a gun, taking his former co-workers hostage, Alan is drawn into the standoff as the person the police and the armed man are both willing to talk to.

The film was directed by Declan Lowney and written by Steve Coogan, Peter Baynham and Armando Iannucci, with Coogan starring as Alan Partridge, a character he had developed over years in British television and radio comedy. Colm Meaney plays the colleague at the centre of the siege, and the cast includes Felicity Montagu, Simon Greenall, Anna Maxwell Martin and John Boyd, part of a credited ensemble of thirty-two. It was produced by Henry Normal and Kevin Loader for Baby Cow Productions with StudioCanal, BBC Film and the BFI, among others, and runs ninety minutes.

Released in 2013, the film had a budget of about four million dollars and took roughly ten million dollars worldwide, so it performed solidly relative to its cost. On IMDb it holds 6.9/10 from around 34,000 votes, on TMDB 6.6/10 from some 514 votes, while a critics' rating stands at 7/10 from 107 reviews, indicating a warmer critical response than the audience scores suggest.
