Assassination of a High School President

Bobby Funke is a sophomore at a Catholic high school who writes for the school paper and is regularly picked on by bullies. When copies of the SAT exams are stolen from the principal's office, the popular Francesca Fachini pushes him to investigate for the paper. Bobby's reporting quickly points to a class president, and the case appears closed, earning him respect from students and from Principal Kirkpatrick, a veteran with a military past. But as he keeps digging, Bobby begins to question whether he was used and whether the theft covers something larger inside the school.

Brett Simon directed the film from a screenplay by Tim Calpin and Kevin Jakubowski. Reece Thompson plays Bobby, Mischa Barton plays Francesca, and Bruce Willis plays Principal Jared T. Kirkpatrick; Patrick Taylor, Melonie Diaz and Luke Grimes round out the main cast, with 28 credited performers and 66 credited crew. The production had a budget of 12 million dollars.

The film was released in January 2008 and runs 94 minutes. It mixes comedy, crime and mystery. On IMDb it holds 6.2 out of 10 from about 17,000 votes, while on TMDB it has 5.8 out of 10 from 335 votes. A critics' rating of 7.1 out of 10 from 11 reviews sits above both audience scores, suggesting professional reviewers responded more warmly than general viewers did.
