Short description
Vincent Chase and his lifelong friends from Queens have made the move to Hollywood, where Vince has become a major star. Eric works as his manager, his half-brother Johnny pursues his own acting career, and Turtle handles whatever comes up, while the group's former agent, Ari Gold, now runs a studio. Entourage follows this circle as it tries to balance personal loyalties against the demands and maneuvering of the film industry. Doug Ellin directed and wrote the screenplay, continuing the story of the television series he created, with Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson producing alongside him.
Adrian Grenier plays Vince, Kevin Connolly plays Eric, Kevin Dillon plays Johnny, Jerry Ferrara plays Turtle, and Jeremy Piven plays Ari, with Emmanuelle Chriqui appearing as Sloane. The film was released in June 2015 and runs 104 minutes. Made for a reported 30 million dollars, it earned about 49 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.5 out of 10 from roughly 86,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.2 from just over a thousand. A critics' score of 4.7 from 210 reviews places it noticeably below both audience figures, suggesting that viewers who followed the series responded more warmly than reviewers did.
What's left behind the scenes
- Kevin Connolly broke his leg while filming the football scenes with Russell Wilson.
- Film producer Mark Wahlberg said the film was partially based on his life.
- A group of critics tried to halt filming and organized a fundraiser on Kickstarter. As a result, over $3 million was raised, but the film was still completed, and all of that money went towards paying for the actors' medical insurance and the needs of the film crew.
- In American distribution, the film and series have the same name, but in Russian the series was titled "Handsome Guys," while the film retained a literal translation of the title.
- When the Turtle meets Ronda Rousey in the gym, her ponytail changes position between shots.
- According to Doug Ellin, the initial version of the film received an "NC-17" rating from the MPAA. To obtain an "R" rating, Ellin was forced to remove some scenes of a sexual nature.
- The events of the film unfold immediately after the events of the series "Entourage" (2004–2011).
- The prototype for Turtle was Mark Wahlberg’s real-life assistant – Donnie “Donkey” Carroll, who died on December 18, 2005, from an asthma attack at the age of 39.
- The first scenes of the film were shot in Miami, and subsequent scenes – in Beverly Hills, at the famous "Montage" hotel. Vince’s home, located on the Hollywood Hills, was the estate of Madonna, and Turtle’s luxurious home was located in Malibu.
- The hospital where Sloan and Eric’s child is born is the same hospital where Robert Downey Jr.’s character’s child was born in "Due Date" (2010).
- In the end credits, there is a mistake in the phrase “Soundtrack Available On” – the letter “D” is missing from the word “Soundtrack”.
