Vengeance

Francis Costello is a French chef whose past includes a career as a professional killer. When his daughter's family is attacked in Macau and her husband and two children are killed, he travels to Hong Kong seeking those responsible. Unable to speak the local language, he hires three hitmen who work for the mafia to help him track down the killers. What complicates the search is his failing memory, caused by a bullet lodged in his head, which threatens his ability to finish what he has started.

Johnnie To directed the film, working from a screenplay by Wai Ka-Fai; To and Michèle Pétin also produced it. It is the nineteenth of the twenty-three films To has directed in chronological order, following Mad Detective and preceding Life Without Principle. Johnny Hallyday leads the cast as Costello, alongside Anthony Wong, Lam Ka-tung, Lam Suet, Simon Yam and Michelle Ye Xuan, among twenty-eight credited performers.
