Grant Taylor coaches the Shiloh Eagles, a high school football team that has never enjoyed a winning season under him, and the fathers of his players are pushing for a change on the sidelines. At the same time, he and his wife Brooke are struggling with personal difficulties at home. Discouraged, Grant turns to his faith, and after an unexpected visit he sets a new purpose before his players: to honor God whatever the outcome on the field. The team's response carries them into a season that tests their courage, and Grant's own life begins to change along with it.
The film is a Christian drama directed by Alex Kendrick, who also stars as Grant and wrote the screenplay with Stephen Kendrick; both also produced it. It was made by Sherwood Pictures with a cast drawn largely from volunteers of Sherwood Baptist Church. It is Kendrick's second feature as director, following Flywheel (2003) and preceding Fireproof (2008), part of the run of faith-based films he made over the following years. Shannen Fields plays Brooke, with Bill Butler, Bailey Cave, Steve Williams and Tracy Goode among the credited cast of 22.
Released in September 2006, the film took about 10 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.5/10 from around 19,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 7.6/10 from roughly 500 votes.
