Santiago Muñez, a Mexican football player, and his friends Liam Adams and Charlie Braithwaite, who play for England, are all chosen for their national teams for the 2006 World Cup in Germany. Before the tournament begins, the three men travel to Romania to film a commercial, where they are involved in a serious car accident. While Adams and Braithwaite recover in time to compete, Muñez suffers broken ribs and a fractured arm that prevent him from playing. The story also follows the personal lives of the English players, including new romances and the discovery of a previously unknown child.
Directed by Andrew Morahan, this drama followed his previous work on Michael Jackson: Live in Bucharest - The Dangerous Tour and Highlander III: The Sorcerer. The film features a cast including Kuno Becker, JJ Feild, and Leo Gregory, supported by a credited cast of 91 people. Produced by companies such as Lawrence Bender Productions and Scion Films, the movie had a budget of 10 million USD. Audience reception was generally negative, as reflected by a 3.2 rating on IMDb from 14,000 votes and a 4/10 rating on TMDB from 234 votes.
