Short description

Set in Britain during the year 871, the film follows Steinar, a young Viking warrior whose dying father, the king, sends him on a mission to find his brother Hakan, who was banished from the kingdom years earlier. With the king near death, the people need Hakan to return and restore order, and Steinar's journey through hostile territory gradually turns him into the ruthless man his father expected him to become.

Hammer of the Gods is a British action, adventure and history film directed by Farren Blackburn, working from a screenplay by Matthew Read. It was Blackburn's first feature, followed by Shut In in 2016, and was produced by Vertigo Films. Charlie Bewley leads the cast as Steinar, with Clive Standen, James Cosmo, Elliot Cowan, Ivan Kaye and Michael Jibson among the principal players. The film runs 99 minutes.

Reception from audiences has been muted: on TMDB it holds a rating of 4.4 out of 10 based on 171 votes, a low score that suggests the film found limited favor with viewers.
