Short description

A Palestinian terrorist group seizes the yacht Rosebud and takes five young women hostage. The captives are daughters of wealthy families, and the kidnappers try to use them as leverage, demanding that European television broadcast footage setting out their cause. When the girls are moved to Corsica and their lives are threatened, one of the families turns to the American agent Larry Martin, who goes after the group in an attempt to free them.

Otto Preminger directed the film, the sixteenth of the sixteen features he made and his first since Bunny Lake Is Missing a decade earlier. The screenplay was written by Erik Lee Preminger. Peter O'Toole plays Larry Martin, with Richard Attenborough as Edward Sloat, Cliff Gorman as Yafet Hemlekh, Claude Dauphin as Charles-André Fargeau, John V. Lindsay as Senator Donnovan and Peter Lawford as Lord Carter.

Released in March 1975, the film runs 127 minutes. Reception was weak across the board. On IMDb it holds 5.2 out of 10 from around 1,200 votes, while on TMDB it also sits at 5.2 from a much smaller number of votes. A critics' score of 3.9 out of 10 from nine reviews puts the professional assessment below the already moderate audience figures, indicating broad agreement that the thriller fell short of the standards of Preminger's earlier work.
