Short description
Jennifer's Body is a horror comedy set in the small town of Devil's Kettle, where Jennifer and Needy have been friends since childhood. Jennifer, a popular and alluring cheerleader, is possessed by a demon after a night that goes badly wrong, and she develops a hunger for the boys around her. Needy, quieter and more reserved, is the one who works out what has happened to her friend and tries to stop the killings, starting with protecting her boyfriend Chip.
The film was directed by Karyn Kusama, her third feature following Girlfight and Æon Flux, from a screenplay by Diablo Cody. Megan Fox plays Jennifer and Amanda Seyfried plays Needy, with Johnny Simmons as Chip and Adam Brody as Nikolai. Jason Reitman, Mason Novick and Brad Van Arragon produced, and the large credited cast and crew reflect a studio production backed by Fox Atomic and 20th Century Fox.
Made for about 16 million dollars, the film took in roughly twice that amount worldwide. On IMDb it holds 5.6/10 from around 170,000 votes, and on TMDB 6/10 from a much smaller pool of voters. A critics' rating of 5.3/10 from 213 reviews places it close to the audience scores, all of which sit in mixed territory. Kusama went on to direct The Invitation, an installment of XX and Destroyer.

- Rock stars such as Pete Wentz and Joel Madden were considered for the role of musician Nikolai. Adam Brody ultimately landed the role.
