Star Trek: Insurrection

A mission to observe the reclusive Ba'ku turns complicated when Data, an android officer aboard the USS Enterprise, appears to malfunction and exposes the observation team to the planet's inhabitants. Captain Jean-Luc Picard and his crew soon learn that the truth is more troubling than a simple breakdown: the Federation has entered into a secret arrangement with the Son'a, a species seeking the rejuvenating properties of the Ba'ku homeworld. The plan would relocate the planet's peaceful residents to harvest that resource for a wider population.

Picard concludes that the operation violates the Prime Directive and the principles the Federation was built on, and he chooses to oppose it, placing his ship and career at risk.

Jonathan Frakes directed the film, his second time behind the camera on the series following 1996's Star Trek: First Contact. Patrick Stewart leads the cast as Picard, with Brent Spiner, Michael Dorn, Frakes as Commander Riker and F. Murray Abraham as the Son'a leader Ad'har Ru'afo. Michael Piller wrote the screenplay and produced alongside Peter Lauritson and Stewart.

Made for around 70 million USD, the film grossed roughly 113 million USD worldwide. On IMDb it holds a 6.4 rating from over 78,000 votes, and on TMDB a 6.5 from more than 1,400 votes, while the critics' score stands at 5.8 from 78 reviews.
