The Art of the Steal

Crunch Calhoun is a motorcycle stuntman who performs dangerous tricks for fairground crowds and also steals art on the side. When his unreliable half-brother Nicky pulls him into one more job, Crunch agrees, partly for the money and partly for a chance to settle something from his own past. He puts his old crew back together, including a young protégé, a former stunt assistant, a forger and a veteran associate, and they set their sights on a rare and extremely valuable old book. What Crunch does not fully account for is that Nicky has his own reasons for the scheme, and the two brothers' plans do not line up.

The film is a Canadian-American crime comedy directed by Jonathan Sobol, who also wrote the screenplay. It followed his 2010 debut, A Beginner's Guide to Endings, and was released in 2013. Kurt Russell leads as Crunch, with Matt Dillon as Nicky, and Jay Baruchel, Kenneth Welsh, Chris Diamantopoulos and Katheryn Winnick in supporting roles. The credited cast runs to 33 people. It runs 90 minutes.

Reception was mixed. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.3 from around 27,000 votes, and on TMDB a rating of 6.2 from roughly 629 votes, while a critics' rating stands at 5.5 from 50 reviews, meaning audiences rated it somewhat more favourably than critics did.
