Short description

A musical biopic of the Four Seasons—the rise, the tough times and personal clashes, and the ultimate triumph of a group of friends whose music became symbolic of a generation. Far from a mere tribute concert, it gets to the heart of the relationships at the centre of the group, with a special focus on frontman Frankie Valli, the small kid with the big falsetto.

Director Clint Eastwood decided to cast theater actors in the film, rather than Hollywood actors – those who perform the same roles in the musical.
John Lloyd Young reprised his role as Frankie Valli, the frontman of the vocal group The Four Seasons, in the film. Young received a Tony Award for the same role in the identically named musical in 2006. Donnie Kehr, Erika Piccininni, and Rene Marino also play the same roles in the film as they did in the musical.
John Lloyd Young was under 40 years old when he played 16-year-old Frankie.
Initially, John Favreau was the director of the film. It was Favreau who rejected Erich Bergen, who played Bob Gaudio in the musical, stating that he was unsuitable for the role. When Clint Eastwood replaced Favreau in the director's chair, he cast Bergen as Gaudio after the very first audition.
