Patema Inverted

Following an ancient catastrophe, humanity is split into two separate societies with opposing gravitational pulls. One group lives in a network of underground tunnels to avoid falling into the sky, while the other resides on the surface. Patema, a curious princess from the subterranean world, explores a forbidden zone and eventually encounters Age, a teenager from the surface. Together, they navigate their inverted realities to find a way for Patema to return home.

The film was written and directed by Yasuhiro Yoshiura, following his 2010 work Time of EVE: The Movie and preceding Sing a Bit of Harmony in 2021. This Japanese production features the voices of Yukiyo Fujii as Patema and Nobuhiko Okamoto as Age, with supporting performances by Takaya Hashi, Shintarou Oohata, Shinya Fukumatsu, and Masayuki Katou.

The movie was well received by viewers, earning a 7.3/10 rating on IMDb from 11,000 votes and a 7.4/10 rating on TMDB from 484 votes. However, these scores are notably higher than the 5.5/10 rating provided by film critics based on 15 reviews.
