Isaiah Bone is released from prison and enters the underground fighting scene in Los Angeles, winning street bouts with ease. He draws the attention of a local crime boss who runs the fights and sees money to be made, while a small-time hustler named Pinball takes on the role of his manager. Bone fights for his own reasons rather than the prize money, and his refusal to play along sets him against powerful men.
The film was directed by Ben Ramsey, his second feature, from a screenplay by Michael Andrews, and produced by Michael Mailer, Matthew Binns and Nick Simunek through Remarkable Films and Michael Mailer Films. Michael Jai White leads as Isaiah Bone, with Eamonn Walker as James, Julian Sands as Franklin McVeigh, Dante Basco as Pinball, Nona Gaye as Tamara and Michelle Belegrin as Angela. It runs 93 minutes.
Made for about 4 million dollars, the film found a wide audience on home video rather than in cinemas, and its ratings reflect a modest but solid reception: on IMDb it holds 6.7 from roughly 38,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 7.4 from around 930 votes. The genre mix of action, crime, drama and thriller matches the martial-arts focus of the story.
