Man Hunt

Man Hunt follows Captain Alan Thorndike, a celebrated British big-game hunter on holiday in Bavaria shortly before the Second World War breaks out. When he finds Adolf Hitler in the sights of his rifle, he is seized by guards before anything can happen and interrogated by a Nazi officer. Offered his freedom in exchange for signing a confession that would implicate the British government, he refuses, and the officer arranges for his death to look like suicide. Thorndike escapes instead and makes his way back to London, where Nazi agents pursue him and a young woman named Jerry Stokes comes to his aid.

Fritz Lang directed the film for 20th Century Fox, working from a screenplay by Dudley Nichols; it was the eleventh of the twenty-four features he directed in chronological order, coming between The Return of Frank James and Western Union. Walter Pidgeon plays Thorndike, with Joan Bennett as Jerry, George Sanders as Major Quive-Smith, John Carradine as Mr. Jones, Roddy McDowall as Vaner and Ludwig Stössel as a doctor.

The film runs 105 minutes and mixes thriller and war elements. On IMDb it holds a 7.2 rating from around seven thousand votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.9 from roughly 130 votes. A critics' rating of 7.5 from fifteen reviews places it slightly above the audience scores.
