Ray, Toby and Pete are three friends who spend their days working at an amusement park and their evenings drinking in their local pub, where they talk about life, films, women and science fiction. Ray in particular is preoccupied with time travel, so when a woman named Cassie approaches him at the bar and claims to have come back from the future to repair a tear in time, he assumes it is an elaborate prank. He tells his friends about the encounter, but a trip to the pub toilets convinces them otherwise: they emerge into a different era, and the evening turns into a series of unintended jumps through time, including a stop in a ruined, post-apocalyptic future.
