Short description

In 35 A.D., a Roman tribune is sent to Palestine to investigate the death and possible resurrection of a certain Jesus from Nazareth.

What's left behind the scenes

The film is a remake of the eponymous 1986 film, starring Harvey Keitel.
The role of Brixos was written specifically for Dolph Lundgren.
Every day before filming, Dolph Lundgren spent two hours in the makeup room.
F. Murray Abraham had back problems during filming, and Dolph Lundgren's trainer, Brian Fitkin, came to his aid.
The film exists in two versions. A “shortened” version lasting 112 minutes and softened to a PG13 rating was prepared for release in the USA, in addition to a 200-minute television version, which includes a more extensive depiction of the initial battle.
