Infinitely Polar Bear

Set in Boston in the late 1970s, Infinitely Polar Bear follows Cameron, a father living with bipolar disorder, as he tries to hold his family together. After a breakdown costs him his job, his wife Maggie takes up a graduate scholarship in New York, leaving him to raise their two daughters, Amelia and Faith, on his own. The girls are wary of life under a parent whose moods swing wildly, and money is tight, but the arrangement gradually reshapes the household.

Maya Forbes wrote and directed the film, which was her first feature as director. Mark Ruffalo plays Cameron, with Zoe Saldaña as Maggie, and Forbes's own daughter Imogene Wolodarsky appearing as Amelia. J.J. Abrams was among the producers.

The film was released in 2014 and runs 87 minutes. Made for about seven million dollars, it took in roughly one million worldwide. It holds a 6.9 rating on IMDb from around 18,000 votes and a 6.6 on TMDB from 414, while critics gave it 6.8 across 118 reviews, placing it close to the audience scores. Forbes went on to direct The Polka King and The Good House.
