Queen

Rani is a young woman from a conservative Delhi family whose wedding is called off by her fiancé just before the ceremony. Rather than retreat in shame, she decides to take the honeymoon trip she had long dreamed of on her own. Travelling through Europe, she meets new people and gradually grows more confident and independent. The film follows her journey of self-discovery, which gives the story its title.

Queen was released in March 2014 and was directed by Vikas Bahl, his second feature after Chillar Party (2011), from a screenplay he wrote with Chaitally Parmar. It was produced by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane for Viacom18 Studios and Phantom Films. Kangana Ranaut plays Rani, with Rajkummar Rao as Vijay, Lisa Haydon as Vijayalakshmi, Mish Boyko as Oleksander, Jeffrey Ho as Taka and Yogendra Tiku as Rani's father. It runs 146 minutes and mixes comedy with drama.

Made for about 2 million USD, the film returned roughly 17 million USD worldwide, a strong multiple of its cost. On IMDb it holds 8.1/10 from around 71,000 votes, and on TMDB it has 7.3/10 from about 322 votes, so the much larger IMDb sample rates it higher than the smaller TMDB one.
