Live!

Live! centers on Katy, an ambitious television executive who is determined to lift her network's flagging fortunes with a reality show unlike anything broadcast before. Her idea: put contestants on air playing Russian roulette for a large cash prize. Human rights advocates object and the plan draws opposition in Congress, but the network pushes ahead, and the search for participants turns up no shortage of people willing to risk their lives for the money. A documentary crew follows Katy as she navigates the legal hurdles and prepares the broadcast, while the contestants face the consequences of what they have signed up for.

Bill Guttentag directed and wrote the film, which was released in 2007 and runs 96 minutes. It is his first feature directing credit in a filmography that continues with Spyral and Rule Breakers. The cast is led by Eva Mendes as Katy, with David Krumholtz as Rex, Rob Brown as Byron, Katie Cassidy as Jewel, Jay Hernandez as Pablo and Eric Lively as Brad, among 25 credited performers. Charles Roven, Alex Gartner and William Green produced.

The film received a critics' rating of 4.8 out of 10 from 15 reviews, while on TMDB it holds 5.5 out of 10 from 164 votes, indicating a modest reception from both professional reviewers and audiences.
