John Luther is a prominent American evangelist who opposes proposed religious reforms in the United States. To remove him as an obstacle, a U.S. Senator and some of Luther's own followers frame him for the murder of a teenage girl. After escaping police surveillance, the preacher becomes a fugitive, attempting to uncover the truth and expose those responsible for the crime. During his search, he is targeted by former military operatives intent on destroying evidence, a struggle that reveals a larger threat of persecution facing the American Christian community.
