Miss Minoes is a Dutch family comedy based on a novel by Annie M. G. Schmidt. It centres on Tibbe, a shy newspaper reporter in a small town who struggles to interview people and is in danger of losing his job. His fortunes change when he meets Minoes, a young woman with distinctly feline habits: she eats sardines, licks herself clean, and can talk to the local cats. She was once a cat herself and retains the ability to gather news from cats across the town. Through her, Tibbe begins filing the scoops that make his name, and the pair turn their attention to a respected local figure, the owner of a factory, whose public friendliness to animals conceals plans that would harm the community.
Vincent Bal directed and co-wrote the screenplay with Burny Bos and Tamara Bos, with Burny Bos producing. It is the first of the two features listed among Bal's directing credits, ahead of Miss Moxy. Carice van Houten plays Minoes, with Theo Maassen as Tibbe, Pierre Bokma as Meneer Ellemeet, Jack Wouterse, Olga Zuiderhoek and Hans Kesting among a credited cast of 27.
The film runs 86 minutes and was released in December 2001. On TMDB it holds a rating of 6.7 out of 10 from 96 votes.
